Community Impact

The Curiosity Project has been developed in partnership with Cherry Grove Learning Centre (a social enterprise)as an outdoor learning environment where curiosity, science and sustainability come together. 
We will be bringing other educational establishments onboard as we develop.

Rather than separating learning from real life, learners investigate genuine challenges that improve both their understanding and the place around them.

Every project has the potential to create lasting value.

Learning with Purpose

Learners might:

• monitor biodiversity and contribute observations through iNaturalist

• measure the flow of the stream and investigate seasonal change

• monitor chick growth and animal welfare

• analyse water quality and improve habitats

• measure solar energy generation and optimise renewable energy systems

• design and build practical engineering solutions

• investigate rainwater harvesting and water use

• explore sustainable ways to heat water for the outdoor shower

• develop systems that make the site more efficient and environmentally sustainable

The answers are not already known.

They are discovered through careful observation, measurement, collaboration and experimentation.

Beyond the Classroom

The skills developed extend far beyond science.

Learners become confident investigators who can collect evidence, question assumptions, solve problems and communicate their ideas.

They learn that knowledge is not simply something to consume—it is something they can create.

As projects develop, the site itself evolves.

Each investigation improves the learning environment for future learners, creating a cycle of continuous improvement driven by curiosity.
